How much does it cost to rent a car in Lviv for one day?

Depending on the class — from 45 € for a hatchback or saloon to 195 € for a premium crossover. A single day is always dearer than a day inside a longer hire: the rate falls as the term grows.

Is insurance included in the rental price?

Yes. The rented car is insured by the lessor — that is directly required by Article 802(1) of the Civil Code of Ukraine. The statutory third-party liability limits are 500,000 UAH per injured person and 5 million UAH per insured event for death and bodily injury, and 250,000 UAH and 1.25 million UAH respectively for property damage.

What is the deposit for renting a car?

From 100 to 1200 € — it depends on the class of the car and on the level of security you have chosen, not on the price of the hire. For a hatchback with the "Additional security +" service it is 100 €, on the basic tariff 400 €. The deposit is returned in full if the car is handed back undamaged.

Will the money be refunded if the car is returned before the end of the term?

Yes. Under Article 790 of the Civil Code the car may be returned at any time, and the charge is reduced in proportion to the actual duration of use. The recalculation is made at the tariff of the band the term actually fell into.

How much does it cost to take a rental car abroad?

150 € for crossing the border plus 15 € for each day spent abroad. We agree the trip in advance: the Green Card is arranged by the lessor.

Is there a surcharge for a second driver?

No. A second driver is free of charge and needs no separate documents — a driving licence and the required driving experience are enough.

How much car rental costs in Lviv

A day of car hire with LeoCar costs from 23 to 195 €. The difference is in the class of the car and in how many days you take it for. Below we break down what makes up that figure, what is already in it and what you have to pay extra for.

In short

There are 25 cars in the fleet right now. The cheapest day is 23 € — a Ford Focus on a long hire. The dearest is 195 €: an Audi Q7 or a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado taken for a day or two.

Most people take a car for several days, and there the range is narrower: 35–150 € per day. That is the price you see in the car card.

A single day never costs the same as a day inside a week-long hire. We will show you why.

What sets the price

Three things affect the cost, and only one of them is the car itself.

Length of hire

The longer the term, the lower the daily rate. We have five bands, and between the first and the last the difference is roughly twofold. Volkswagen Golf VII: 45 € for a day or two, 35 € in the middle of the scale, 25 € on a long hire.

Class of the car

Hatchback, saloon and estate are the lower part of the scale. Crossovers, minivans and 4×4 are the middle. Premium is the top. The class affects not only the daily rate but also the size of the deposit and of the excess.

The company’s tariff, not a “market price”

What works here is not marketing but a rule of law. Article 789 of the Civil Code of Ukraine fits into a single sentence: “The charge for the hire of a thing is set according to the tariffs of the lessor” (Civil Code of Ukraine, Article 789). So asking “what is the average rental price in Lviv” is close to meaningless. Ask what a particular company’s tariff is and what it includes.

What is included

The LeoCar daily rate already includes what many rental companies charge for separately:

Insurance of the car. This too is a requirement of law: “Insurance of the vehicle is carried out by the lessor” — Article 802(1) of the Civil Code. The renter does not arrange the policy — and cannot be required to.
Servicing and repairs. Article 791(3) of the Civil Code: “Capital and current repair of the thing is carried out by the lessor at its own expense, unless it proves that the damage to the thing occurred through the fault of the lessee”. Scheduled servicing does not enter your budget.
250 km of mileage a day. Above the limit — 20 € per 100 km, for the Premium class 35 € per 100 km.
A second driver — free of charge, with no separate paperwork. All that is needed is a driving licence and the required driving experience.
24/7 support for the whole hire period.

The statutory third-party liability limits as of August 2026: 500,000 UAH per injured person and 5 million UAH per insured event for death and bodily injury; 250,000 UAH and 1.25 million UAH respectively for property damage. What costs extra

This is the current list from the terms of service. There are no hidden charges here: no item appears by itself — you either order it or you do not.

Unlimited mileage — 25 €/day for 1–2 days, 15 €/day for 3–7 days, free of charge from 8 days. For the Premium class — 35 € and 25 € respectively.
Crossing the state border — 150 € for the crossing and 15 € for each day spent abroad.
Delivery of the car within the city — 15 €, and free of charge on a hire from 300 €.
Delivery or return in another city — 85 € per 100 km.
Delivery or return outside working hours — 30 €. Opening hours: Mon–Sun, 9:00–19:00.
Delivery to the border (Shehyni) — 75 € during working hours, 150 € outside them.
Young driver (under 21, or with less than 3 years of driving experience) — 15 €/day, Premium 30 €/day.
Additional equipment — navigator, child seat, ski rack — 10 €/day.
Car wash — 20 €, if it is not included in your security tariff.
Return with an empty tank — 100 €, a smaller fuel shortfall is charged pro rata.

Deposit and excess

The deposit is not a payment but a security. We return it in full if the car comes back undamaged. You can leave it in cash or block the amount on a card: then the money will be taken only for actual damage or additional services.

The size of the deposit depends not on the price of the hire but on the level of security you have chosen. For a hatchback, saloon and estate it looks like this:

For crossovers, minivans, 4×4, convertibles and hybrids the scale is higher (basic deposit 800 €), and for Premium higher still (1200 €). The full breakdown for all classes is on the terms of service page.

Changed your mind — Additional security can be changed or cancelled free of charge at the office, when the car is handed over.

Returning the car early

People ask this almost every time. The answer here is given by the law, not by company policy.

Article 790 of the Civil Code of Ukraine states it plainly: “The lessee has the right to withdraw from the hire contract and return the thing to the lessor at any time”, and the second paragraph adds that “the charge for the hire of the thing paid by the lessee for the whole term of the contract is reduced in proportion to the duration of actual possession and/or use of the thing”.

One thing is worth knowing in advance. The recalculation follows the actual duration, that is the tariff of the band you really ended up in. Booked for 10 days at the long-hire rate but returned the car on the third day — those three days will be counted at the three-day tariff, not at the ten-day one.

A worked example

Volkswagen Golf VII, five days, a trip around Lviv and the Carpathians, without going abroad.

Without unlimited mileage it would come to 275 €. But then the limit of 250 km a day applies, and for a Lviv—Carpathians—Lviv route that is tight.

How to pay less

Four things that really shift the total:

Take the car for longer. From two days to a week the daily rate falls by about a quarter. From a week to a month — more noticeably still.
Work out your mileage in advance. From 8 days unlimited mileage is free. On short terms it is sometimes cheaper simply to keep within 250 km.
Book collection during working hours. 9:00–19:00 every day — without the 30 € surcharge.
If you need a car for a month or more — look not at daily hire but at a car subscription: there the tariff is counted per month and includes servicing.
